When you are growing up, the world often shapes around you in different ways. Perhaps you were a knight with a sword, however, the sword was a stick you found outside. Maybe you were a sea princess that swam in the cold waters of the local outdoor pool in your community, during a hot summer day. However, these memories permanently impact you and shape you into who you were today. The ways you shaped reality when you are younger, shape you into who you are. and going back to those roots can help you learn more about yourself. Adding to my sustained investigation about my self-discovery. When I was growing up, my mother had these dancer-clown type of dolls. And once I found another one from a store, I saw myself discovering the happiness of that time. This piece is about imagination, yet one thing was true, imagination is an abstract thought of the human mind. The clown sits down in the center-right of the piece, representing happiness as clowns are supposed to make people happy. With a hand reaching forward to grab the doll within the overgrowth of plants that held the clown away. A key is hidden within the piece that serves as a key to the world of imagination that once was lost when someone grew up. Finding the key can help you open up the world you once lost, and discover the things you once found happiness in. The piece itself is truly the abstract thought and is opened to be an interruption of the viewer. However, only the artist holds the key to the true meaning, and their own world they made within the fibers of the page itself. So what is my sustained investigation about? My sustained investigation is about my journey of self-discovery, with the paths I take throughout my life to learn who is Leigh? .
